Week two.. done! Fun soiree to cap it off...

This week went fast, and we got a lot done. We moved furniture around, polished wood floors, checked light bulbs and smoke alarms and actually started assembling cabins and putting on the finishing touches before the first guests arrive on June 12th. Only one week to go. Below is one of our "rickshaws", loaded down with a twin bed, kindling and a bucket of fire starter chips. So many things to deliver to the cabins. The maintenance guys buzz around on 4-wheelers while we girls walk everywhere. That's actually good because I'm eating like a pig ;)

The weather has been gorgeous... 50ish at night and 70s during the day. As always, the views while walking around the ranch are amazing:

The cottonwood and Aspen trees are sending these beautiful little cotton seeds out everywhere and it looks like snow raining down!

There is an old buckboard, stagecoach and wagon on the ranch... kids love them.

Tonight after work, the ranch owners had a Turkey Fry at their beautiful log home that sits at the edge of the ranch not far from the guest cabins and main lodge. Their front yard is a huge pasture where the dozens of horses graze in the evenings, and they have spectacular mountain views. As of today, the whole crew has finally arrived and we were all invited. They provided beverages, appetizers and a sumptuous buffet dinner. People played games on the lawn including corn hole and a traditional Viking game called Kubb/koob. Interesting and fun...

Above, that's my co-worker "photo bombing" me in the background. ha-ha. Three of us rode our bikes to the soiree....

After dinner, the ranch owners acknowledged returning crew and ranch staff. Some have been working here full time or seasonally for 30 years, and others started as ranch guests when they were children and have returned for 10-15 years to work here! My "boss" below, got her 10 year bronze ranch belt buckle, engraved and numbered. She's awesome...

Another long timer got a 20 year sterling silver buckle... a very nice guy and long time friend of the ranch owners. This place really IS like a big family. Great week, and we got our first paychecks too ;)
